Four people, including a commercial bus driver, have died while 13 others sustained critical injuries after a truck collided with a fully loaded commercial bus on Alaro City Bridge, inward T-Junction, Epe, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the crash in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the agency, the truck rammed into the commercial bus while both vehicles were on the single-lane bridge, leaving several victims trapped in the wreckage.

The truck driver also sustained severe injuries, with both legs reportedly severed after becoming trapped in the wreckage.

LASTMA operatives, with support from the Federal Road Safety Corps, evacuated the four deceased victims to the mortuary, while the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) transported the 13 injured victims to the nearest medical facility for treatment.

Personnel of the Epe Police Division also provided security during the rescue operation and traffic management at the scene.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.

He urged motorists to exercise caution, obey traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving, particularly on bridges, narrow roads and other areas where traffic movement is restricted.

LASTMA officers were also deployed to manage the resulting traffic congestion and restore normal vehicular movement along the affected route.
