Nigeria to Roll Out Unique Postcodes for Every Home October 1
Nigeria will roll out a new Alphanumeric Postcode System on October 1, 2026, with every home in the country expected to receive a unique postcode as part of efforts to modernise Nigeria’s addressing system.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, announced the development on Tuesday describing the new system as a major step towards creating a more precise and digitally enabled addressing framework for Nigerians.
Tijani said the new postcode system would, for the first time, provide every home with a unique postcode that is simple, precise and designed to support Nigeria’s digital future.
“For the first time, every home will be assigned a unique postcode that’s simple, precise and built for a digital future,” the minister said.
