FG Disburses N38.93bn To 166 Tertiary Institutions Nationwide
The Federal Government has disbursed N38.93 billion to 166 public tertiary institutions across Nigeria to address infrastructure gaps and improve teaching and learning facilities.
The Director of Press Relations at the Federal Ministry of Finance, Efe Ovuakporie, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, October 25, 2026, saying the funds were released under the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund.
According to the statement, the disbursement covers 79 universities, 46 polytechnics and 41 colleges of education nationwide.
Universities received the largest share of the funding, with N28.5 billion allocated to 79 institutions. The 46 polytechnics received N5.8 billion, while 41 colleges of education were allocated N4.7 billion.
The ministry said the intervention was designed to help beneficiary institutions commence or advance approved projects addressing critical infrastructure deficiencies and other identified needs.
It added that the funding formed part of the Federal Government’s efforts to address challenges facing public universities and implement agreed measures under the Memorandum of Understanding with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The government said the funds were expected to strengthen tertiary education by improving infrastructure, supporting institutional capacity and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
