Tinubu To Opposition: “They Created Hunger, Poverty; We’re Eradicating It”

Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accused opposition leaders of creating the hunger and poverty they now use to criticise his administration.

“They created the hunger; they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” Tinubu said on Saturday during the flag-off of his 2027 presidential campaign at the Ranchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna State.

The President made the remarks while addressing supporters at the rally, where he defended his administration’s efforts to tackle economic challenges and urged Nigerians to support his re-election bid in 2027.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on October 24, 2026, Tinubu’s comments appeared to target opposition leaders, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

The statement referenced Atiku’s tenure as vice-president between 1999 and 2007, alleging that the privatisation of state-owned enterprises during that period left some affected workers without their gratuities and pensions. It added that the Tinubu administration had been paying the affected workers.

Tinubu also thanked the people of Kaduna State for supporting him in the 2023 presidential election and urged them to renew his mandate in 2027, citing his administration’s investments in critical infrastructure.
