Kwankwaso Rejects Claims NDC Will Step Down for ADC
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed claims that the party’s presidential ticket may withdraw from the race in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kwankwaso described the attacks by the ADC Presidential Campaign Council against him, NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi and the party as unnecessary and unhelpful.
He said the ADC campaign team should focus on promoting the competence and credibility of its own candidate instead of spreading claims that the NDC ticket was working for the ruling All Progressives Congress or planning to withdraw from the presidential race.
According to Kwankwaso, the NDC would not withdraw its candidature for the ADC or any other political party.
He said, “We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party,” adding that the NDC remained confident in its capacity, competence and readiness to lead Nigeria.
Kwankwaso also challenged the ADC campaign council to focus on responding to allegations made against its candidate by Vice President Kashim Shettima rather than attacking the NDC presidential ticket.
He further stated that the NDC ticket was neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates.
Kwankwaso said the NDC believed the APC-led government had failed Nigerians and argued that the ADC did not offer a better alternative.
He described the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as a credible option capable of addressing challenges in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and the economy.
The NDC vice-presidential candidate also urged supporters of the party and other Nigerians to remain committed to the party, saying the NDC remained a formidable opposition platform with support across the North and South.
