Tinubu Appoints Fayose REA Chairman, Names 25 Others to Federal Agencies
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), alongside 25 other Nigerians appointed into key positions across 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.
The Presidency announced the appointments in a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said the appointments take immediate effect.
Under the latest development, Tinubu appoints Fayose as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, where he will oversee the activities of the agency’s board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors.
The REA Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors previously appointed by the President will also serve as members of the board.
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission, while former Lagos State lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission.
Other appointees to the commission include Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively. Dr. Mai Adamu Yau from Borno, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu, Engineer Lawrence Okoh from Edo and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi were also appointed as members.
In another appointment, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who previously served as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), was moved to the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission as Secretary.
Bayo Onanuga further disclosed that President Tinubu appointed Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
The President also appointed Engineer Julius Oloro as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing Dr. A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
The statement added that Shuni Muhammad Dahiru has been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF).
To fill the vacant position of Executive Director, Finance, at the Federal Housing Authority, President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and academic currently serving as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission.
