FGGC Monguno Attack: Education Ministry Debunks Fake Report, Assures Students’ Safety

The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed reports alleging an FGGC Monguno attack, describing the claims as false, misleading and intended to create fear among parents, guardians and the general public.

In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry clarified that Federal Government Girls‘ College, Monguno, in Borno State, has not come under attack and remains safe, secure and fully operational. It assured parents that all students, members of staff and boarding facilities are intact, while academic and residential activities are continuing without any disruption.

The ministry stressed that reports linking Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno, to a recent security incident are entirely inaccurate and should be disregarded. It explained that no student of the college was involved in the incident being circulated online.

According to the statement, the individuals affected were remedial students who were outside the college and not enrolled at Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno. It added that the Borno State Government has already taken the necessary steps to ensure their safety and welfare.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed that the safety, security and welfare of students across all Federal Government Colleges remain a top priority for the Federal Government. He noted that Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno, operates under comprehensive security arrangements designed to protect learners, teachers and school infrastructure.

The ministry also urged journalists, bloggers and social media users to verify information through official channels before publishing or sharing reports that could cause unnecessary panic.

It further called on parents and members of the public to ignore the false FGGC Monguno attack report, reiterating that Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno, remains secure and that teaching, learning and boarding activities are progressing normally.
