NITDA, Stakeholders Unite to Drive Digital Transformation

Nitda

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s technology ecosystem have renewed their commitment to strengthening partnerships and collaboration to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.

The commitment was made during a high-level stakeholder engagement hosted at the Lagos Business School, where industry leaders, academics, policymakers and other players in the technology sector reviewed progress on NITDA’s strategic roadmap.

Speaking on behalf of NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, the Director of the Special Duties Directorate, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, said sustained collaboration among government, industry and academia was essential to achieving comprehensive digital transformation.

Onumo commended the Lagos Business School and participating organisations for their contributions to the development and implementation of NITDA’s strategic roadmap.

He said long-term partnerships remained critical to expanding the reach and impact of digital initiatives across the country.

According to him, the agency’s strategic roadmap was developed through extensive national consultations and designed as a flexible framework capable of responding to changes in the global technology landscape.

He stressed the importance of continuous engagement with stakeholders to assess progress, refine priorities and ensure government interventions remained relevant to market realities.

Inuwa, through his representative, described NITDA as increasingly operating as an ecosystem platform for digital innovation, where stakeholders collaborate to solve problems, improve digital services and develop effective regulatory frameworks.

The engagement also reviewed progress across NITDA’s eight strategic pillars, with discussions focusing on digital literacy, balanced regulation, digital infrastructure, local entrepreneurship and the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act.

Participants also held working sessions around five key areas: infrastructure, innovation, talent, governance and cybersecurity.

The sessions provided industry experts and other stakeholders with an opportunity to identify challenges, share practical experiences and propose solutions for accelerating the implementation of the agency’s digital transformation roadmap.

The NITDA Director-General urged stakeholders to provide constructive feedback, strengthen institutional partnerships and remain committed to inclusive participation in the country’s digital ecosystem.

He said greater collaboration among stakeholders would be crucial to positioning Nigeria as a leading force in Africa’s digital economy while creating more opportunities for citizens.
