Again Residents Confront Scavenger Over Alleged Vandalism in Kosofe

Kosofe

Residents of Kosofe, Lagos, have confronted a suspected scavenger accused of vandalising an iron barrier installed to prevent pedestrians from crossing the expressway at Kosofe Bus Stop, Mile 12.
In a video circulating online, a resident is heard confronting the man over the alleged removal of parts of the roadside structure.
“You are breaking the wall, you are lying that you are picking dirt’s, the resident was heard saying, while questioning the man over his activities. The confrontation reportedly occurred after residents noticed that the barrier had been damaged and some of its metal components removed.
According to the information accompanying the video, the iron barrier was installed to discourage pedestrians from crossing the expressway at the location. The alleged removal of its metal components could weaken the structure and potentially expose pedestrians and motorists to safety risks.
The incident is similar to a recent case at the Festac Bridge, where suspected scavengers were reported to have broken into concrete pillars supporting the bridge and removed iron reinforcements.
Residents have called for stronger monitoring and enforcement to prevent the destruction of public facilities, warning that the removal of structural components from bridges and pedestrian barriers could have serious consequences for public safety.
