Abiodun Confirms Rescue of Abducted Gateway ICT Polytechnic Students
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has confirmed the successful rescue of all seven victims abducted during the recent attack involving students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade.
In a statement, the governor expressed gratitude to God for the safe return of the victims, describing the operation as a testament to effective leadership, intelligence gathering, and collaboration among security agencies.
Abiodun said the state government acted immediately after the abduction was reported by mobilising relevant security agencies and reinforcing the operation with aerial surveillance alongside intensive ground operations.
The governor commended the courage and professionalism of security personnel involved in the rescue mission, while also praising traditional rulers, community leaders, vigilantes, local hunters, and residents for providing valuable intelligence that contributed to the successful operation.

Governor Abiodun disclosed that security operations are still ongoing to apprehend all those connected with the abduction and dismantle the criminal networks responsible for the attack.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Ogun State’s security architecture and warned that criminals would find no refuge in the state.
“Our message to criminal elements is unequivocal: there will be no safe haven for criminality anywhere in Ogun State.”
The governor assured residents that his administration would continue working with security agencies and community stakeholders to protect lives and property while maintaining Ogun State as a safe destination for residents, businesses, visitors, and investors.
