NITDA Introduces Mandatory Software Testing Framework for Government IT Projects.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has unveiled a new software quality assurance framework aimed at improving the reliability and security of government digital systems across Nigeria.
The framework introduces independent software testing and certification for government IT projects before they are deployed for public use. According to NITDA, the initiative is designed to reduce system failures, strengthen cybersecurity, and ensure that software procured by government agencies meets acceptable quality standards.
The agency said the new policy will also promote transparency and accountability in the execution of public technology projects while encouraging the use of globally accepted software development practices.
NITDA noted that the framework forms part of its broader efforts to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda by ensuring that government technology platforms are efficient, secure, and capable of delivering quality services to citizens.
The agency is expected to work with relevant stakeholders to support the implementation of the framework and ensure compliance across government institutions.
