NASENI to Showcase Nigeria’s Top Homegrown Innovations at Final Pitching Exercise

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) will on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, host the final pitching exercise of its NASENI Innovation Assessment and Awards Programme (NIAAP), bringing together some of Nigeria’s most promising innovators to compete for top honours.

According to NASENI, the event will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Technology Orientation Centre (TOC), NASENI Headquarters, Idu Industrial Layout, Abuja, marking the final stage of the agency’s flagship innovation competition.

The agency disclosed that more than 180 applications were received from NASENI Development Institutes, while 81 entries came from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) across the country. Following a rigorous assessment process, the top 10 finalists in both categories have been selected to present and defend their innovations before an independent panel of experts.

NASENI said the panel will evaluate each innovation based on originality, technical merit, practical application, scalability and potential socio-economic impact. Winners will be formally recognised during NASENI FEST, the agency’s flagship innovation celebration.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, is expected to officially declare the competition open.

The event will be held under the theme, “Driving Innovation, Accelerating Industrialization, Transforming Nigeria,” reflecting NASENI’s commitment to promoting indigenous technology, supporting research excellence and accelerating Nigeria’s industrial transformation.

The agency noted that the programme is designed to discover, nurture and reward innovative ideas capable of addressing national challenges while strengthening Nigeria’s industrial competitiveness.

NASENI also said the competition serves as a platform for collaboration among innovators, research institutions, public agencies and development partners, while inspiring a new generation of Nigerian inventors and problem-solvers.
