Independence Day: Police Arrest Akwa Ibom OK Movement Leader During Planned ‘Two Million Man March’
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested Elijah Noah, the state coordinator of the OK Movement, during a planned “Two Million Man March” in Uyo, the state capital, on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Noah was reportedly apprehended by police officers during the planned rally, with a video of the arrest circulating on social media.
The proposed march was said to be part of activities supporting the campaign of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The incident occurred after the Akwa Ibom State Police Command had earlier advised political parties and groups to reschedule rallies planned for October 1 due to security considerations.
