Air Peace Flight Disruptions: NAHCO Ground Equipment Damages Aircraft, Delays Loom

Air Peace has warned passengers to expect Air Peace flight disruptions after one of its Airbus A320 aircraft was severely damaged by ground handling equipment operated by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (MMA1) in Lagos.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the airline said the incident occurred shortly after Flight P47427 from Kano had safely disembarked passengers. According to Air Peace, a NAHCO baggage conveyor belt vehicle crashed into the aircraft’s engine, leaving the aircraft unserviceable.

The airline explained that the damaged Airbus A320 had been scheduled to operate several flights across its network in the coming days. As a result, Air Peace flight disruptions are expected, with some services likely to be delayed while others could be cancelled as the airline adjusts its fleet to minimise the impact on passengers.

Air Peace apologised to customers whose travel plans may be affected, assuring them that its operations and customer service teams are working to provide alternative travel arrangements and necessary assistance for affected passengers.

The airline stressed that the safety of its passengers, crew, and equipment remains its highest priority. It added that it is working closely with NAHCO and relevant aviation authorities to investigate the incident and prevent a recurrence.

Air Peace also thanked passengers for their patience and understanding as it manages the operational challenges arising from the damaged aircraft.
