Uyo flood video circulating on Instagram has captured a shocking moment showing a residential building reportedly submerged by floodwaters in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The viral video, which has attracted widespread attention on social media, shows what appears to be a multi-storey residential building with floodwater reaching approximately halfway up the structure. Several residents are seen gathered outside the building while voices believed to be from people trapped inside can be heard calling for help.

In the footage, one distressed resident is heard saying:

“Oh my people dey inside there. See them shouting. Oh God, see them shouting o, see them shouting”

The emotional reaction has sparked concern among social media users, many of whom have called for emergency responders to intervene and ensure the safety of those believed to be inside the flooded building.

Although the Uyo flood video has circulated widely on Instagram, National Focus Newspaper has not independently verified the exact location of the building, the number of people inside, or whether rescue operations had commenced at the time the footage was recorded.

The incident highlights the recurring threat posed by flooding during the rainy season, particularly in low-lying communities where heavy rainfall can quickly overwhelm drainage systems and inundate residential areas.
