Solar Inverter Suspected as Cause of Justrite Superstore Fire in Akowonjo

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has said that a solar inverter system is suspected to have caused the fire outbreak at Justrite Superstore in Akowonjo, Lagos, which affected the electronics section of the commercial building.

Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that preliminary findings suggest the blaze may have originated from an alternative power source, specifically a solar inverter system. She also stated that no casualty was recorded during the incident.

The fire occurred at Justrite Superstore, located at No. 116, Akowonjo Road, Jimoh Bus Stop, Egbeda-Akowonjo, Lagos.

Firefighters from Abesan and Agege Fire Stations responded to the emergency call and arrived at the scene at about 8:28 a.m., where they swiftly deployed firefighting equipment to contain the blaze.

According to the Service, the incident affected the second floor of the building, which houses the electronics section of the store.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the fire has been completely extinguished, while recovery operations and mop-up exercises are ongoing to bring the incident to a close.
