Rivers Police Arrest Four Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Victim

The Rivers Police arrest of suspected kidnappers has led to the rescue of a 35-year-old woman and the recovery of the gang’s operational vehicle in Rivers State.

The Rivers State Police Command announced the breakthrough in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

According to the statement, the victim, Mrs. Ikechukwu, was abducted by armed men on Saturday, July 11, 2026, while attending to customers at her shop. The kidnappers reportedly whisked her away in a white tinted mini-bus.

Following a report by her husband, Mr. Ikechukwu, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) launched an intensive intelligence-driven investigation on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju.

The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate. The suspects were identified as Owhor Chinedu, 42, from ONELGA Local Government Area; Isioto Waribok, 30, from Andoni Local Government Area; Maduabuchi Emeka, 34, from ONELGA; and Joe Karachi, 28, also from ONELGA Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Police recovered a white mini-bus allegedly used by the gang to carry out the abduction.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the four suspects have confessed to their individual roles in the crime. The Police said efforts have been intensified to apprehend two remaining members of the syndicate who are currently at large and to recover the firearms used during the operation.
