Tinubu Congratulates First Elected Female NBA President

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the first elected and second female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

The President described her emergence as a major milestone for the legal profession and a victory for merit, excellence, and gender inclusion in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya’s distinguished career, marked by integrity, professionalism, and commitment to justice, earned her the confidence of lawyers across the country.

He noted that her election reflects the growing recognition of women’s contributions to nation-building and the administration of justice.

The President expressed confidence that her leadership would strengthen the legal profession by upholding the rule of law and promoting reforms that improve access to justice for Nigerians. while urging her to collaborate with stakeholders to advance judicial reforms, protect the Constitution, and sustain the legal profession’s role in Nigeria’s democratic society, President Tinubu also encouraged the new NBA President to unite members of the association and address issues that arose during the election process.

“I extend my hearty congratulations to the President-elect of the NBA for her victory. As the first elected female president of the Association of Lawyers in Nigeria, Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya has made history,” the President said.

He added that her achievement proves Nigerian women can attain great heights in both private and public service through dedication and excellence.

The President wished Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya a successful tenure and assured her of his administration’s commitment to working with the NBA to deepen democratic governance, promote justice, and build a more united Nigeria.
