IGP Disu Decorates 30 Newly Promoted AIGs, CPs in Abuja

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday formally decorated 30 senior officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The decoration ceremony, held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, marked the official recognition of officers whose promotions were attributed to years of dedicated and meritorious service to the Nigeria Police Force.

In his remarks, IGP Disu congratulated the newly promoted officers and described their elevation as a call to greater responsibility within the Force. He acknowledged the demanding nature of police work and the personal sacrifices many officers make in the line of duty, including missing family celebrations and important milestones.

The IGP also commended the families of the officers for their support throughout their careers, noting that their sacrifices had contributed significantly to the success of the officers.

He urged the newly decorated officers to lead with integrity, humility, and humanity, stressing that they must prioritize the welfare of the officers under their command while building public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through their conduct and decisions.

“Officers who genuinely fight for the welfare of the men and women they command will, in turn, earn their loyalty and support,” the IGP said.

The newly decorated Assistant Inspectors-General of Police include Obono Nnaghe Itam, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Edobor, Isah Danladi Nda, Akaninyene Ifebem Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Bello Rashid Afegbua, Hycenth Azuka Edozie, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.

Also decorated were 17 newly elevated Commissioners of Police, including Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle Aremu Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Rita Oyintare Oki, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, Nurudeen A. Sabo, Tijani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C. Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Etaifo, Taiwo A. Adedeji, Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura, and Zainab Audu Pembi.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Oyekachukwu Ibezim, representatives of the governors of Jigawa and Anambra states, the Controller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, and other senior government and security officials.
