[Video] Resident Accuses INEC Over N2,000 PVC Demand Allegation

A resident has alleged that officials at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Onitsha South Local Government Area demanded N2,000 from applicants before processing and issuing their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The INEC PVC N2,000 extortion allegation surfaced after the resident recounted an incident involving an applicant who reportedly challenged the demand, insisting that PVCs are issued free of charge in line with INEC regulations.

According to the account, the applicant attempted to record the interaction with the officials, a move that allegedly led to a heated argument at the INEC office.

The resident expressed concern over the INEC PVC N2,000 extortion allegation and called on the electoral commission to investigate the matter, warning that such allegations could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.

INEC has not issued an official statement regarding the allegation as of the time of filing this report.
