LASTMA Rescues Three Crash Victims in Igando

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has helped save three people trapped in a multiple-vehicle accident along the LASU–Isheri Road at Iyana School, inward Igando, Lagos State.

According to LASTMA, the accident occurred after a MACK flatbed truck reportedly suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control before crashing into a Toyota Sienna and two commercial tricycles.

LASTMA officials, who were on routine traffic patrol in the area, responded immediately by activating the agency’s emergency response protocol. Their swift action during the Rescue operation prevented further accidents and restored the free flow of traffic along the busy road.

The agency said three victims, one man and two women, sustained varying degrees of fracture injuries. They were successfully rescued from the wreckage and taken to El-Shaddai Hospital for medical treatment.

LASTMA worked alongside officers of the Iba Police Division to evacuate the damaged vehicles and clear the accident scene, ensuring that normal traffic movement was restored without further disruption.

The vehicles involved in the crash included a MACK flatbed truck, a Toyota vehicle with registration number FGC 80 XE, and a TVS commercial tricycle with registration number LSR 604 QP.

Commenting on the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, praised the professionalism and quick response of the agency’s personnel during the Rescue operation.

He urged drivers, particularly operators of articulated and heavy-duty vehicles, to carry out regular mechanical inspections before embarking on any journey, with special attention to their braking systems.

Bakare-Oki stressed that routine vehicle maintenance remains essential to reducing road crashes and improving road safety across Lagos State.
