Edo Police Recover Stolen Highlander, Hunt Robbery Suspects
The Edo State Police Command has recovered one of the two Toyota Highlander vehicles stolen during a robbery at the residence of the State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Kennedy Odion, in Benin City.
The robbery occurred on September 6, 2026, at the politician’s residence off Winners Road, Ihie Community, Benin City.
The recovered vehicle, with registration number LSR 729 HY, was found around the New Benin axis following sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by the Police.
The Command said the Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, personally visited the scene after the incident and directed the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and recover the stolen property.
Acting on intelligence, operatives of the VCRU remained on the trail of the robbery syndicate, leading to the recovery of the vehicle.
The Police described the recovery as a significant breakthrough, stressing that criminals targeting residents and their property would not be allowed to operate with impunity in the state.
The Command said the operation is still ongoing, with efforts intensified to recover the second stolen vehicle and other items taken during the robbery.
The Police also said they are closing in on those responsible for the incident, with the objective of recovering the stolen property, identifying the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
CP Daaor reassured residents that the Command would continue to deploy intelligence and operational resources to tackle criminal activities across Edo State.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide the Police with useful information about suspicious persons, movements and activities, noting that timely information could help prevent crime and lead to the arrest of offenders.
