Police Deny Assault Allegation at Alonge Station, Says Case is Before Court

The Lagos State Police Command has denied allegations that officers at Alonge Police Station in Oworonshoki assaulted a woman’s daughter, saying the reported injuries were allegedly caused by a neighbour involved in the incident.
The clarification was made by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in response to an earlier report concerning allegations made by a Nigerian woman who called for public intervention.
According to Adebisi, the police did not assault the woman’s daughter, contrary to the claims contained in the earlier report. She said the alleged assault was committed by the neighbour involved in the dispute.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that the matter is already before a court and has been adjourned to August 17, 2026.
She said the suspect has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending her ability to meet the bail conditions granted by the court.
Adebisi explained that the case involves allegations of affray, assault occasioning harm and wilful damage, adding that the matter concerns both parties involved in the incident.
The police clarification came after a woman was seen in a social media video alleging that officers at Alonge Police Station, Oworonshoki, detained and assaulted her daughter after she reported a neighbour for allegedly attacking her with a blade.
The Lagos State Police Command has therefore dismissed the allegation of police assault and maintained that the matter is already undergoing judicial proceedings.
