NAFDAC Warns Markets Producing Adulterated Palm Oil of Shutdown.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned that markets involved in the production and sale of adulterated palm oil risk being shut down as part of efforts to protect public health.

NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said the agency would intensify enforcement against individuals and markets found producing or distributing adulterated palm oil.

According to her, the move is aimed at safeguarding consumers from unsafe food products and ensuring that food sold across the country meets required safety standards.

The agency urged traders and producers to comply with food safety regulations, warning that violators would face appropriate sanctions.

NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening surveillance and enforcement to curb food adulteration and protect Nigerians from harmful products.

The Director-General explained that the agency would not tolerate practices that endanger the health of Nigerians through the sale of contaminated or adulterated food products. She stressed that those found guilty of producing or selling adulterated palm oil would be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

Prof. Adeyeye also urged consumers to remain vigilant when purchasing palm oil and other food products, advising them to buy only from trusted and reputable sources. She encouraged members of the public to report suspected cases of food adulteration to the agency to support ongoing enforcement efforts.

According to the NAFDAC boss, the agency will continue to strengthen surveillance, inspections and enforcement operations across markets and production centres nationwide to curb the circulation of unsafe food products.
