The 11th edition of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) officially kicked off on Sunday, with 24 contestants entering Biggie’s House to compete for a record-breaking grand prize worth N160 million.

Hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the season premiere introduced the new housemates, who come from diverse backgrounds including entrepreneurship, fashion, content creation, hospitality and entertainment.

The eventual winner will receive N100 million in cash, a brand-new SUV and other sponsored rewards, making it the biggest prize package in the history of the reality television show.

Speaking ahead of the launch, the Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice Nigeria, Atinuke Babatunde, said the new season would build on the show’s reputation as one of Africa’s biggest entertainment productions.

According to her, “Big Brother Naija has consistently redefined entertainment in Africa by bringing together authentic storytelling, compelling personalities and moments that resonate with millions of viewers. Season 11 builds on that legacy with even bigger stakes, fresh twists and an exciting mix of housemates that will keep audiences engaged from premiere night through to the finale.”

Babatunde also announced betPawa as the headline sponsor for Season 11, with Guinness returning as Gold Sponsor and Minimie joining as an associate sponsor.

“We are delighted to welcome betPawa as our headline sponsor alongside Guinness and Minimie, whose partnership reflects the enduring value and impact of the Big Brother Naija platform,” she said.

Also commenting on the partnership, betPawa’s Head of Local Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility, Borah Omary Ndanyungu, described BBNaija as one of Africa’s leading entertainment brands.

“Big Brother Naija is one of Africa’s most celebrated entertainment properties, and we are proud to come on board as headline sponsor for Season 11. We look forward to rewarding fans, deepening engagement throughout the season and delivering exciting experiences that complement the energy and excitement of the show,” he said.

Since its revival in 2017, BBNaija has grown beyond a reality television programme into a major entertainment and commercial platform, producing actors, musicians, influencers and entrepreneurs while generating billions of naira in advertising, sponsorship and digital engagement across Africa.

The new season is expected to run for about 10 weeks, with viewers deciding the eventual winner through weekly voting as housemates compete in tasks, face nominations and evictions, and navigate life inside Biggie’s House.

Within hours of the premiere, some contestants had already generated buzz on social media. One of the housemates, Abi, disclosed during her introduction that her husband initially opposed her decision to join the show before eventually giving his support.
