four

Four passengers sustained multiple fractures in a serious road accident involving a Toyota Highlander and a Mazda commercial bus at Otedola, inward Berger, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the collision occurred during the morning rush hour along the major traffic corridor near Jubilee Gate.

LASTMA operatives, working with officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), quickly arrived at the scene and commenced rescue operations while managing traffic to prevent further accidents.

The injured passengers were rescued from the vehicles by LASAMBUS personnel and taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at the Toll Gate for immediate medical attention.

The agency said the prompt response by its operatives helped prevent a secondary collision as traffic remained heavy in the area.

Security personnel from the Isheri Police Division also provided support during the rescue and recovery operations.

LASTMA said both drivers involved in the crash were apprehended and handed over to the police for investigation and possible prosecution.

The two vehicles were also transferred to the appropriate security authorities as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the agency’s operatives, LASAMBUS personnel, Federal Road Safety Corps and police officers for their quick response and cooperation.

Bakare-Oki urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, avoid excessive speed and remain focused while driving, stressing that many road crashes could be prevented through responsible driving.
