Akwa Ibom Police Reaffirms Commitment to Excellent Service
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, fairness, respect and prompt response in its dealings with members of the public.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, made the commitment on Tuesday at the Command Headquarters in Uyo during the celebration of this year’s Customer Service Week.
Azare said effective public service remains an important part of policing, noting that every interaction between police officers and citizens, including the handling of complaints and responses to distress calls, could affect public confidence in the force.
He therefore charged officers and personnel of the Command to remain courteous, patient, impartial and responsive while carrying out their duties.
The Commissioner also called for stronger collaboration among the Police, government, traditional and community leaders, parents and residents to address security challenges across the state.
He warned youths against cybercrime and urged them to use digital platforms responsibly. He also condemned mob action and jungle justice, stressing that allegations against suspects should be handled through lawful processes rather than violence.
Azare further urged political leaders to ensure that political activities in the state are conducted peacefully and in accordance with the law.
He appealed to residents to help protect critical infrastructure by promptly reporting vandalism and suspicious activities to security agencies.
The event was attended by representatives of the Police Community Relations Committee, Nigeria Union of Journalists, National Youth Council, civil society organisations and the Christian Association of Nigeria, among others.
The Command reassured residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to maintain communication with the Police through appropriate channels.
