The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Hon. Dr Seyi Jakande, has called on pupils in public primary schools to return from the long vacation with greater focus on their studies as the new academic session begins.

Jakande made the call on Monday, September 14, 2026, while monitoring the distribution of educational materials to pupils across public primary schools in the LCDA.

The exercise followed the launch of the council’s back-to-school initiative at the council secretariat, with Jakande personally visiting schools to monitor the distribution and interact with pupils and teachers.

The back-to-school kits distributed to pupils included school bags, exercise books, pen and pencil sets and food flasks, in a move aimed at supporting parents and reducing the financial pressure associated with school resumption.

Beginning his tour at Ilupeju Secondary School, Jakande joined a free school ride and encouraged students to see education as a pathway to a better future.

He urged pupils to attend classes regularly, listen to their teachers, complete their assignments and respect school authorities, stressing that discipline and dedication were essential to academic success.

“Back to school” must translate to “back to studies,” Jakande said, urging pupils to put the holiday behind them and concentrate on academic excellence.

The chairman said his administration’s education programmes were designed to provide children with a strong foundation, noting that success at higher levels of education begins with getting the basics right at the primary school level.
