AI Can Cut Doctors’ Work Time by Half, Serve as Healthcare Co-Pilot — AI Hub CEO

AI HUB

The Chief Executive Officer of AI Hub Limited, Abubakar Bala Usman, has said Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help improve healthcare delivery by serving as a co-pilot for doctors during medical examinations and other clinical activities.

Bala Usman stated this during a telephone conversation with National Focus, explaining that doctors often rely on external platforms such as Google and ChatGPT when searching for information that could assist them in their work.

He said healthcare institutions could instead deploy AI models specifically trained and fine-tuned for the healthcare sector.

According to him, such a system could provide relevant suggestions to doctors while they examine patients, helping them save valuable time and improve their workflow.

Bala Usman said AI could significantly reduce the time doctors spend completing certain tasks.

“If on average it takes the doctors like 30 minutes, for example, to complete a section, basically now with the help of AI, it is actually taking them less than 15 minutes to complete everything,” he said.

He stressed that the use of AI as a healthcare co-pilot should be aimed at supporting doctors and improving efficiency, rather than replacing medical professionals.
