FG Automates Academic Certificate Verification, Ends Physical Visits To Education Ministry
The Federal Government has fully automated the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates, eliminating the need for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education physically.
The Federal Ministry of Education disclosed this in a press release issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, described the development as a major step in the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda and in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Under the new system, applicants can now complete the entire academic credential evaluation and authentication process online through the Ministry’s dedicated platform.
According to the Ministry, the reform is aimed at reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, speeding up processing, improving transparency and making the service more accessible to Nigerians and applicants residing outside the country.
Alausa said the automated system would also strengthen the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification process.
He added that the platform would enable institutions, employers and other relevant stakeholders to verify academic qualifications through a more structured and reliable system.
The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to deploying technology to modernise education governance, enhance institutional efficiency and provide citizen-centred services.
