Sowore Attacks Atiku, Says Nigeria Needs a Break From Political Elite

Sowore

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning what he described as Atiku’s fundamentally different vision for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Sowore, in a statement, recalled Atiku’s eight-year tenure as Vice President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, arguing that the period coincided with significant government spending in the power sector while millions of Nigerians continued to experience inadequate electricity supply.
He questioned what new direction Atiku could offer Nigerians after decades of involvement in the country’s political establishment.
“After decades at the centre of Nigeria’s political system, what fundamentally different future is Atiku offering Nigerians today? NOTHING!” Sowore said.
The AAC candidate argued that Nigeria does not need what he described as another “recycling of the same political elite.”
According to him, the country requires a “clean break” from the political system he blamed for persistent poverty, corruption, insecurity and poor electricity supply.
