The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi Salihu, has urged young people across the state to embrace their differences and work together towards building a future driven by innovation, opportunity and inclusive governance.

The Speaker made the call in a message marking this year’s International Youth Day, celebrated under the theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”

Salihu said the theme reflects the different backgrounds and experiences of young people while highlighting their shared aspirations for peace, justice, opportunities and sustainable development.

He noted that despite differences in culture, location and circumstances, young people across Nigeria share common goals and should therefore collaborate to create an environment where every young person can reach their full potential.

The Kwara Assembly Speaker commended the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Kwara State Government led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as their commitment and investment in the youth constituency.

According to him, government initiatives and investments in young people have created greater opportunities for the younger generation to pursue their ambitions and contribute meaningfully to society.

Salihu, however, called for sustained support for policies and programmes focused on youth development, urging young people to remain actively involved in politics and governance.

He particularly advocated continued support for the administration beyond 2027, while calling for increased youth participation in politics and greater inclusion of young people in decision-making.

“As the young Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, I encourage us all to embrace our differences and unite in our common purpose of making the youth generation proud,” he said.
