Project BRIDGE Moves to Execution as Nigeria Incorporates Bridge Open Access
Nigeria has taken a major step towards expanding nationwide broadband connectivity with the incorporation of Bridge Open Access (Bridge OA), the independent company established to deliver Project BRIDGE.
The development was disclosed by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, who said the incorporation marks the transition of Project BRIDGE from planning to execution.
According to the Minister, Bridge OA will provide the institutional platform for completing strategic investor onboarding and accelerating the deployment of fibre infrastructure across the country.
Project BRIDGE is designed to deliver one of Africa’s largest open-access fibre infrastructure programmes, with the goal of expanding broadband access and improving digital connectivity across Nigeria.
The incorporation of Bridge OA is expected to facilitate the next phase of the project, including the onboarding of strategic investors and the acceleration of nationwide fibre deployment.
The initiative is also expected to strengthen Nigeria’s position as a regional digital connectivity hub for West Africa, while supporting the growth of the country’s digital economy.
