Ekiti to Upgrade NYSC Camp, Targets One of Nigeria’s Best

The Ekiti State Government has unveiled plans to renovate and upgrade the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp at Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti, with Governor Biodun Oyebanji saying the state aims to transform the facility into one of the best in Nigeria.
Oyebanji, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Adesola Gold Adedayo, disclosed this on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of 2,199 prospective corps members deployed to the state for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation exercise.
The governor said the intervention would be carried out in phases and would cover the rehabilitation of hostels and other camp facilities, improvement of water and electricity supply, upgrading of sanitation facilities, enhancement of the parade ground and construction of additional facilities to improve the welfare of corps members and camp officials.
“Our goal is to transform the camp into one of the best orientation camps in Nigeria, befitting the status of Ekiti State as the Fountain of Knowledge,” Oyebanji said.
He assured the NYSC that his administration would continue to provide the necessary support to enable the scheme effectively discharge its mandate in the state.
Oyebanji also charged the corps members to take the orientation exercise seriously and participate actively in camp activities, particularly the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
He described the SAED programme as an opportunity for corps members to acquire skills that could promote self-reliance and wealth creation.
The governor further urged the corps members to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, diligence, patriotism and selfless service throughout their service year, while making meaningful contributions to the development of their host communities.
Earlier, the NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator, Adeola Abiodun Ige, said 2,199 prospective corps members, comprising 892 males and 1,307 females, had successfully registered for the orientation course.
The corps members were formally inducted into the one-year national service following the administration of the National Pledge and NYSC Oath of Allegiance by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, represented by Justice C. O. Adegoke.
