Ekiti Gov Oyebanji Approves Comprehensive Redevelopment of NYSC Orientation Camp

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has announced plans to commence a comprehensive redevelopment of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in September 2026, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving facilities for corps members in the state.

The governor made the commitment during a strategic meeting with the Ekiti State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Adeola Abiodun Ige, at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti.

Responding to concerns over the poor condition of facilities at the camp, Oyebanji said his administration would embark on a full-scale redevelopment of the orientation camp while ensuring the project does not disrupt orientation activities.

“The Orientation Camp will undergo comprehensive redevelopment beginning in September 2026. To ensure the project is executed without disrupting orientation activities, the NYSC should seek approval from the National Directorate for the temporary relocation of subsequent orientation courses to Ondo State, starting with the next batch,” the governor said.

He also pledged to mobilise Local Government Chairmen and other prominent Ekiti indigenes to support the project, while assuring that the ongoing renovation of the NYSC State Secretariat would be completed. He added that the state government would provide bunk beds and mattresses for the hostels after the redevelopment.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Adeola Abiodun Ige, appealed for urgent government intervention, describing the condition of the orientation camp as unsuitable for corps members.

“There is an urgent need for comprehensive rehabilitation of the NYSC Orientation Camp to provide Corps Members with a safe, conducive and befitting environment during orientation courses,” Ige said while presenting his proposal to the governor.

He also appealed for the completion of the ongoing renovation of the NYSC State Secretariat.
