APC Unveils National Campaign Council for August 15 Osun Governorship Election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its National Campaign Council and several sub-committees to coordinate its campaign activities ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, following a notice signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
According to the party, the National Campaign Council will be chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Other top party leaders named as co-chairmen include the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni; President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as Deputy Chairman of the council, while the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, was appointed Secretary.
The APC said the campaign council comprises party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, as well as other stakeholders drawn from across the country.
To strengthen campaign coordination, the party also inaugurated several specialised sub-committees covering election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots mobilisation, logistics and campaign management, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, and secretariat functions.
According to the statement, the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be formally inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, by 12:00 noon.
The APC said the council is expected to drive the party’s campaign efforts and mobilise support across Osun State as it seeks victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
