The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has unveiled a major initiative aimed at transforming government communication in Nigeria through artificial intelligence and digital media innovation.
Speaking at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Headquarters in Abuja, Abdullahi announced the launch of a three-day Digital Skills Masterclass for social media managers and communication professionals from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The programme is designed to strengthen participants’ capacity in digital communication, content strategy, audience engagement, and the effective use of digital platforms to improve public service delivery.
Represented by the Director of Digital Development Services, Olawumi D. Opehinde, the NITDA DG emphasized that government communication must evolve rapidly in the digital age to meet the expectations of citizens who increasingly rely on online platforms for information and engagement.
He noted that the masterclass reflects NITDA’s commitment to advancing digital literacy and equipping public sector workers with the skills needed to communicate more effectively in an era driven by technology.
According to Abdullahi, the training will also expose participants to emerging trends in artificial intelligence and digital media, enabling them to create more impactful and data-driven communication strategies.
