NIMC, Bank of Industry Deepen Partnership to Strengthen Nigeria’s Digital Economy
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the Bank of Industry (BOI) have intensified efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy through a renewed partnership focused on digital identity, financial inclusion, and secure financial transactions.
NIMC Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, led the Commission’s management team on a courtesy visit to the Bank of Industry, where they were received by BOI Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Olasupo Olusi.
The visit formed part of NIMC’s strategic engagements with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) following the enactment of the NIMC Act 2026, aimed at deepening collaboration and advancing Nigeria’s digital identity ecosystem.
Engr. Coker-Odusote noted that the NIMC Act 2026 creates significant opportunities for identity verification, financial inclusion, credit access, risk management, and secure digital transactions.
She said the new legislation offers immense value to Nigeria’s finance industry by strengthening trust and efficiency within the digital economy.
Dr. Olasupo Olusi commended Engr. Coker-Odusote’s leadership and NIMC’s achievements, describing the NIMC Act 2026 as a game changer for Nigeria’s financial sector.
He reaffirmed BOI’s commitment to collaborating with NIMC to leverage Nigeria’s digital identity infrastructure in driving inclusive economic growth, expanding access to finance, and strengthening confidence in the nation’s financial system.
