[Video] Shettima Arrives for 69th ECOWAS Summit in Sierra Leone

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday arrived at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi, Sierra Leone, for the 69th ECOWAS Summit, where he is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Vice President’s arrival and participation in the summit were disclosed by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), who shared updates and video footage from the summit venue in Lungi, Sierra Leone.

The high-level meeting is being hosted by Sierra Leone’s President and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority, Julius Maada Bio, and has attracted Heads of State and Government from across the West African sub-region.

Among the leaders attending the summit are President Romuald Wadagni of Benin, President José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, President Adama Barrow of The Gambia, President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau, President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire, President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal and President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé of Togo.

Also present as special guests are President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group and Chairman of the ECOWAS Business Council, Aliko Dangote, alongside the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed.

The summit is expected to focus on critical regional issues, including peace and security, democratic governance, economic integration, trade, infrastructure development and sustainable growth, as West African leaders seek stronger collaboration to address common challenges facing the region.
