Woman Arrested Over Alleged Child Theft Attempt in Delta State

A woman suspected in an alleged child theft attempt is questioned by members of the Delta State Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.

A woman suspected of attempting to steal a child in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has been arrested by members of the Delta State Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps and handed over to the Ebrumede Police Division for further investigation.

The suspect was apprehended following the alleged incident and subjected to preliminary questioning by members of the volunteer corps before being transferred to the police.

During the interrogation, the Delta child theft suspect claimed that the person who allegedly sent her was identified as Karuna, whom she said resides in Osokotu.

She was also asked whether she had been involved in similar incidents in the past.

According to the volunteer corps, the suspect admitted that she had allegedly participated in only one previous child theft incident.

Responding to questions about whether she received payment for the alleged act, the suspect denied collecting any money or reward.

She further claimed that she had gone to Karuna’s residence, where she became pregnant.

The statements made by the suspect have not been independently verified by the police.

Following the preliminary interrogation, members of the Delta State Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps transferred the Delta child theft suspect to officers at the Ebrumede Police Division, where a full investigation has commenced.

Police authorities are expected to investigate the suspect’s claims, including the identity of the individual she mentioned during questioning.
