Plot to Drop Shettima Was Meant to Destabilise APC, Says Gagdi

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Nigerian Navy, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has said President Bola Tinubu outsmarted political opponents who were allegedly pushing for the removal of Vice President Kashim Shettima from the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket.

Speaking on TVC’s Sunday Politics programme, Gagdi dismissed speculations surrounding the relationship between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, describing their compatibility as “very perfect.”

According to the lawmaker, many of those advocating for a change of the vice president were not members of the APC but were pursuing a political agenda aimed at creating instability within the ruling party.

“The compatibility is very perfect. Those advocating for the change of Shettima, most of them are not even from the ruling party. In my opinion, they are campaigning for Vice President Shettima not to be on the ballot to create instability, which they can leverage for political disagreement against the APC,” he said.

Gagdi commended the APC leadership and President Tinubu for refusing to bow to what he described as pressure from the opposition.

“I am very happy that the national leadership of the APC under Professor Nentawe and Mr President outsmarted them. The President is really a political engineer who studied those in the opposition pushing for Vice President Shettima not to be on the ballot, and I am happy that Mr President outsmarted them,” he added.
