Ifeanyi Ogbonna arrest has been confirmed by the Delta State Police Command following the detention of the popular content creator, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba,” over allegations involving the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman who later died after reportedly ingesting a toxic substance.

The Ifeanyi Ogbonna arrest was announced in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, who disclosed that the suspect was taken into custody after the Command received a petition detailing the allegations.

According to the Delta State Police Command, the Ifeanyi Ogbonna arrest followed a petition alleging that the incident began on June 1, 2026, when the deceased travelled to Asaba after reportedly accepting an invitation from the content creator.

The petition alleged that Ifeanyi Ogbonna had offered to train the young woman in content creation through a programme he promoted on his social media platforms.

Police said the petition further alleged that after the woman arrived in Asaba, she was taken to a hotel where she was allegedly raped and physically assaulted.

The deceased later returned home and informed her parents about the alleged incident.

The Delta State Police Command stated that the deceased later recorded a video in which she recounted her experience and described the emotional distress she allegedly suffered following the incident.

According to the police, she later ingested a toxic substance and died despite efforts made to save her life.

Investigators said the circumstances surrounding her death form part of the ongoing investigation linked to the Ifeanyi Ogbonna arrest.

Following receipt of the petition, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, directed the Area Command in Effurun to commence a thorough investigation.

Acting on the directive, detectives carried out the Ifeanyi Ogbonna arrest and began taking statements as part of the investigation.
