Tinubu: Government To Expand Digital Connectivity, Support Young Nigerians To Build Global Tech Companies

Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced plans to expand digital connectivity across communities as part of efforts to create jobs, strengthen businesses and position young Nigerians for greater participation in the modern economy.

Tinubu made the disclosure in his Independence Day address, where he identified digital connectivity and technology-driven enterprise as important components of Nigeria’s next phase of economic development.

The President said Nigeria’s youthful population represented a major economic opportunity, stressing that government must ensure young Nigerians can channel their talent, energy and ambition into productive activities.

“We will expand digital connectivity into communities that have waited too long to participate in the modern economy,” Tinubu said.

He added that the government would invest in the skills demanded by employers while providing Nigerian businesses with the infrastructure and finance required to expand.

Tinubu also expressed his desire to see more young Nigerians build globally successful technology companies from within the country.

“I want young Nigerians building unicorns and creating opportunities for others here at home,” he said.

The President linked digital connectivity to employment and enterprise, saying the government’s policies would place jobs, businesses and industrial growth at the centre of the next phase of its economic programme.

He said Nigeria would also use its gas resources to power new industries and support businesses working to revive factories in major industrial centres.

The administration, according to Tinubu, is seeking to create an economy where young Nigerians can participate in modern economic activities without having to leave the country.

He said the government would continue investing in infrastructure, skills and finance to enable businesses and young entrepreneurs to contribute more significantly to national production.
