Shettima Urges Northern Artists To Support Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election
Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to northern-based professionals in the creative industry to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja.
The Vice President said the North should support Tinubu in the interest of fairness, national unity and the country’s development, while assuring the creative industry that the administration would continue to support the growth of entertainment in the region.
According to Shettima, the Tinubu administration is implementing policies aimed at empowering local talent, promoting cultural preservation and creating economic opportunities through the creative industry.
He urged the artists to remain committed to the government and the APC, saying the benefits of ongoing reforms would continue to become evident across different sectors in the coming months and years.
Shettima also assured northern artists, filmmakers and musicians that the Federal Government would continue to introduce targeted interventions aimed at supporting professionals in the region.
Speaking earlier, the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, said Tinubu’s bid for another term in office would be based on the administration’s record and achievements.
Yari urged support groups and individuals to assess the government based on its performance, while dismissing claims by political opponents that the North had been excluded from federal appointments and projects.
Former Katsina State Governor and Deputy Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Aminu Bello Masari, also commended the creative industry professionals for their decision to support Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Masari said the administration’s policies were creating opportunities for the creative sector and urged professionals to take advantage of the programmes to improve their livelihoods.
Former Kano State Governor and APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, thanked the group for its support and called for justice, fairness and inclusiveness in the political process.
Ganduje also advocated greater investment in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly through infrastructure and training opportunities for emerging artists in northern Nigeria.
Responding, President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Alhaji Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates across the North.
Rarara said northern creatives were united in their support for the APC candidates, describing the group’s backing as organic and based on what he described as the administration’s performance.
The group also appealed to the Federal Government to support the reorganisation and development of the creative industry in northern Nigeria, particularly through improved infrastructure and measures to enhance the welfare of industry professionals.
