How Nigeria Can Boost Its GDP With Technology, Attract Global Investors- Joy Buba
Nigeria can increase its Gross Domestic Product (GDP), generate new revenue and attract international investors by making technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) a major driver of its economy, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Young Innovators of Nigeria, Joy Buba, has said.
Buba said Nigeria must move beyond being a consumer of foreign technology and begin developing homegrown digital solutions capable of generating revenue and creating economic opportunities.
Speaking during a telephone interview, she said the country should develop its own Artificial Intelligence tools rather than relying heavily on foreign platforms and sending valuable data outside the country.
According to her, developing local AI solutions would enable Nigeria to feed and utilise its own data while creating opportunities to generate revenue from technology.
Buba explained that she was personally working towards building one of the largest Artificial Intelligence ecosystems across Africa, with a focus on developing technology tools and training young people with the skills needed to participate in the digital economy.
She said the organisation was not only focused on teaching young people but was also trying to build practical technology tools that could contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth, increase the country’s GDP and attract international partners to invest in Nigeria and Africa.
Buba stressed that strengthening Nigeria’s indigenous technology ecosystem could create new revenue streams, reduce dependence on foreign technology and position the country as a competitive destination for international technology partners and investors.
