“They Are Already Using You” — VeryDarkMan Tells Benue Youths

Nigerian social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has criticised Benue youths over their decision to mobilise against the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC), Peter Obi, during his visit to the state.

VeryDarkMan, in a video shared on social media, said it was unfortunate that the youths could turn out in large numbers to disrupt Obi’s movement but had not shown the same level of mobilisation against the insecurity and killings affecting communities in the state.

He said the development showed that politicians were still able to use young people as political tools despite the challenges they had faced over the years.

The influencer recalled the recurring farmer-herder clashes and attacks in Benue, alleging that politicians and government officials had failed to adequately address the situation.

He questioned why the youths could mobilise against a politician without being dispersed by security personnel, unlike during protests over killings in the state.

“I saw you people in numbers. Nobody tear-gassed you, police didn’t chase you or tear-gas you, but you came out in large numbers. The killings in Benue, what happened that day? You people were tear-gassed,” he said.

VeryDarkMan added, “But now you came out again in numbers, nobody tear-gassed you. They are already using you. It is so unfortunate and very sad, to be honest.”
