The Ekiti State Government has commenced a major renovation of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ise-Orun/Emure-Ekiti, following Governor Abiodun Oyebanji’s commitment to improve facilities and enhance the welfare of National Youth Service Corps members in the state.

Contractors moved to the camp on Monday, August 31, 2026, to begin the first phase of the project, which comprises 19 key interventions.

The projects include the construction and renovation of the camp gate, perimeter fencing, kitchen, dining hall, hostel blocks and the State Coordinator’s Lodge, among other facilities.

Governor Oyebanji has also pledged to undertake a comprehensive replacement and refurbishment of bunk beds across the camp as part of efforts to improve the comfort of corps members during their orientation programme.

Inspecting the ongoing work, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Bureau of Special Projects, Engr. Albert Talabi, disclosed that the hostel blocks would be powered by solar energy to ensure 24-hour electricity supply.

He added that biodigesters would also be installed for the hostel toilet systems, in line with efforts to provide more sustainable and efficient facilities at the camp.

The intervention followed renewed advocacy by the NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator, Mr Adeola Abiodun Ige, who has made improved camp infrastructure and corps members’ welfare a priority since assuming office.

Ige has continued to engage the state government and other stakeholders to secure greater support for the NYSC and facilitate the transformation of the orientation camp.

Expressing appreciation for the intervention, Ige conveyed the gratitude of the NYSC Director-General and the organisation’s management to Governor Oyebanji for the project.

He described the development as a “landmark intervention”, saying it would significantly improve the welfare of corps members and support the effective implementation of the NYSC mandate in Ekiti State.
