Tension As Thugs Disrupt Peter Obi’s Arrival In Benue
Tension reportedly gripped parts of Benue State on Tuesday following an alleged disruption of the movement of the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, shortly after his arrival in the state.
The incident occurred around Boko Road by the Air Force Base, where suspected thugs allegedly blocked the major route used by Obi and his entourage.
Obi’s media aide, Esther Umoh, raised the alarm in a post on X, alleging that the individuals were sponsored to prevent the former Anambra State governor from gaining access into Benue.
“We have just arrived in Benue State, where alleged sponsored thugs have blocked Boko Road by the Air Force Base, attempting to prevent Peter Obi from gaining access into the state,” Umoh wrote.
A separate video shared by the aide showed several individuals running behind vehicles in the convoy. Umoh alleged that the action was an attempt to attack members of the entourage.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report, including the identity of those involved and what triggered the confrontation.
