‘Our Love for Nigeria Must Be Greater Than Political Differences’ — Peter Obi
The Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has urged politicians contesting the 2027 elections to place their love for Nigeria above political differences.
Obi made the call in Abuja while speaking after joining Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, at the commissioning of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Presidential Campaign Office.
He stressed the need for politicians to conduct their campaigns with respect, decency and a commitment to national unity, warning against political contests that could unnecessarily divide Nigerians.
“We must insist that our shared love for our country should always be greater than our political differences,” Obi said.
He called on political contestants to focus their campaigns on ideas and practical solutions to Nigeria’s pressing challenges, including insecurity, poverty, hunger, inequality and the growing number of out-of-school children.
According to him, the 2027 election should be an opportunity for politicians to present ideas capable of uniting Nigerians, improving their lives and restoring hope to the country.
Obi also called for a new Nigeria anchored on unity, love, justice, mutual respect and inclusion, urging political actors to maintain civility despite their differences.
He congratulated Makinde, Mohammed and other leaders and members of the APM on the commissioning of the campaign office, while reaffirming his belief that a better Nigeria is possible.
