Edo Police Boost School Safety Ahead of Resumption
The Edo State Police Command and the Ministry of Education have strengthened their partnership to improve security in schools ahead of the resumption of academic activities across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, received the state Commissioner for Education, Osifo Washington, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Benin City on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on improving collaboration between the police and the Ministry of Education, particularly in strengthening Safe Schools Operations across Edo State.
During the meeting, CP Daaor directed the immediate sharing of official telephone numbers of Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders with schools in their respective areas.
The move, according to the police, will give school authorities direct access to security personnel for quick reporting, information sharing and rapid response to security concerns.
Both parties also agreed to set up a joint assessment team to visit schools across the state and identify possible security threats and weaknesses.
The team will also recommend measures to improve the safety of students, teachers and other members of the school community.
